For those of you popping in and out of #macforce over the holidays, you probably noticed a few problems with the channel. Without going into specifics, the channel was in the hands of a couple different groups, but now things are back to normal. The owners of the channel are off vacation and have all bots back online and running smoothly.
FYI: Both the website and channel are going under complete reconstruction.

** WHAT IS THIS? **
This is a brief FAQ that contains rules, common questions, and general information that you might need to know if you are new to IRC, or new to #MacFileZ. Contained in this .sit file you should find a file named "Read Me". It is a #MacFileZ graphic which you may distrubute with your warez. If you plan to distribute this FAQ, please keep it in its original form with the "Read Me" file included. To obtain this FAQ at any time in its original form, join #MacFileZ on EFNet and type !newfaq for the latest version.
** TO ALL OPS **
Thou shalt NOT:
1. Op anyone.
2. Set channel keys or make the channel +m.
3. Kick other ops.
4. Kick the bots (this may be reason for your removal).
5. Filter kick. This includes *!*ircle@*, *!*@*.gov etc.
6. Impose word kicks. We are not a grammar channel.
** TO ALL USERS **
Thou shalt NOT:
1. Ask for ops. We have a waiting list.
2. Hack ops. Do so repeatedly and you will be banned.
3. Flood the channel (with nick changes, multiple lines of text, or joins).
4. Flood other users. They never work anyway. Don't make a fool of yourself.
5. Use ircle colors in the channel, WHATSOEVER.
6. Use inverse or bold in the channel (plists are excepted from this rule).
7. Use excessive CAPS or punctuation in the channel.
8. ASK for sites (requests will be answered with a kick and/or ban).
9. Mass invite, message, notice, or ctcp (version, xdcc, etc.) the channel.
10. Repeat yourself. If noone replies, they either don't know or don't care.
** To those that are lookin for sitez **
You WILL be permitted to advertise a site which YOU own or operate.
You may announce an anonymous site. Anonymous sites have no username/passwords.
You may NOT advertise any sites or FirstClass/Telefinder systems or any other
such places which require usernames and passwords.
** To those who wish to offer **
First, select an offering script which is simple and non-offending. Examples of such scripts might be Offerbot for ircle (written by ChrisJ) or _fphoenix.irc for ircii (Vassago's phoenix script with Fluff's modifications).
We suggest that you Adjust your nick to reflect the type of client you use.
IRCLE or other CTCP command set XDCC clients use <nickCTCP>
Those who use IRCII scripts or other MSG command set XDCC clients use <nickDCC>
We recommend that you to keep your list to 15 files or less in order to avoid spamming people that request your list.
Please set your plist time (the time between public listings) to a MINIMUM of 15 minutes. People offering larger and/or more popular files would be wise to increase this time, as your queue will most likely be full anyway.
Please make sure the filez are NOT corrupted before offering!!
Please include descriptive filename or descriptions, such as version number.
Your offer list is NOT the place to excessively advertise, insult, or otherwise spam the channel. There is ENOUGH activity in the channel without having to ready your useless spam every 15 minutes. You may advertise your courier group, thank whoever gave you the file, or add something equally useful.
** To those who wish to get filez that are being offered **
Once in the channel, you can easily indentify people/bots that are offering by their nicks (ending with DCC or CTCP) and/or by the +v mode applied to them (it's those green people for ircle users). First make sure you set your irc client to auto receive, it'll make your life a little easier than having to /dcc get everytime your requesting a file.
The XDCC command for unix offerors is /msg NickDCC XDCC <cmd>
The XDCC command for ircle offerors is /ctcp nickCTCP XDCC <cmd>
<cmd> may be:
LIST to get a listing of the filez being offered
SEND #n to receive one of the pack being offered where n = the pack number.
For example:
/msg SaxDCC XDCC LIST To get a file listing from a DCC client (ircii)
/msg SaxDCC XDCC SEND #1 To receive pack #1 from a DCC client
/ctcp ExtinCTCP XDCC LIST To get a file listing from a CTCP client (ircle)
/ctcp ExtinCTCP XDCC SEND #1 To receive pack #1 from a CTCP client
Before listing (xdcc list) someone, wait and check if the offeror isn't doing a public offering, which means he/she/it has set the client/bot to publicly announce its offering. NOTE: Some offerors sometimes mind if you actually list them while they do public offering.
Try to avoid asking for files that are already being offered. Check what is being offered before being lame.
** Where can I get these "tools" from?? **
Stuffit Expander - Expand compressed files
You can find the newest version at http://www.aladdinsys.com/ its free!! Make sure you get also the DropStuff w/ EE. Because some of the other "engine" to do conversion comes wth DropStuff /w EE.
ShrinkWrap - Mount image files

Ircle - macintosh IRC client
You can find the latest version @ http://www.xs4all.nl/~ircle/
Phoenix.irc - Unix IRC client
This is one of the most popular ircII scripts to do file offerring. You can ftp anonymously from unix.mclv.net [204.95.95.2]
** In Conclusion **
#Macfilez is basically a "big non-physical interactive Warez site". Politics are pretty much irrelevant as long as the juarez gets around. Therefore its pretty pointless to seek ops, or seek to get someone booted or other pointless things. This is not channel #buttfuckopz. Just remember that #macfilez is a unified collective, that is safe from attack and infiltration because it exists in no one place.
